The first meeting of a potential learning alliance was held in February 2006 in Dire Dawa.The participants exchanged information about multiple use of water and how this could be scaled up. Among the participants were representatives of local government agencies and NGOs, but also farmers working with multiple sources of water to address their multiple water needs.
Progress report on the learning alliance in Dire Dawa, analyzing progress and findings along all principles at intermediate level, and possibly some of the community level principles. At the same time, impacts will be assessed. Principles will be headings in the report, not the organizations. Summary and preliminary analysis will identify factors that help and hinder MUS at intermediate level. Interim outputs such as stakeholder analysis, proceedings or minutes of meetings, work plans and trip reports will be included as appendices.
A first district level Learning Alliance workshop on MUS was held in Dire Dawa in February 2006. The main objective of this workshop was to formulate problems and identify main issues related to scaling up the MUS approach. The issues discussed and the outcomes of this workshop can be found in these proceedings.
